MELBOURNE TO MANHATTAN: THE MUSIC OF MATTHEW ROBINSON
Award-winning composer Matthew Robinson presents an intimate evening of his music spanning a decade of song writing, featuring performances from some of Australia's most celebrated music theatre artists. Following the World Premiere season of his debut musical Metro Street in both Australia and South Korea, Matthew is embarking upon his first trip to the Big Apple, the third stop for this Melbourne-Sydney-New York song writing showcase tour which features songs from the Pratt Prize-winning musical Metro Street, the musical revue Sing On Through Tomorrow and a sneak preview of Matthew’s latest musical in development, Atlantis. See him off in style, celebrating Melbourne made music ready for the world stage.

When music theatre leading man Matthew Robinson (Pippin, Mamma Mia) won Australia’s richest theatre-writing award, the Pratt Prize for Music Theatre, it was to start a journey for him that continues as he moves toward getting his all-new Australian musical Metro Street, fully staged. Metro Street is a contemporary family drama in which five people’s lives intersect in Melbourne and this sneak preview features Australia’s brightest new leading lady Lucy Durack (Wicked, 42nd Street), last seen with Matthew at the Maj in their hit cabaret shows Immaculate Confection and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Matthew's Pratt Prize-winning musical will be performed for one night only in Melbourne. This is the first time this latest draft has been performed outside of Sydney. Presented in a reading format it will feature the extraordinary talents of Nancye Hayes, Robyn Arthur, Graham Foote, Lucy Durack and Verity Hunt-Ballard, backed by a four-piece band. All proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Australia and there will be pre and post-show drinks in the foyer, with Fiona Scott-Norman spinning tunes after the reading. Seats are limited.
